Tales From The Cutting Room Floor…

Being a fan of all things melodic, syncopated and electronic, It’s absolutely astounding the amount of quality of electronic pop coming at us from all directions these days. So many great bands arriving and heralding what can only described as a new Gilded Age for the scene. It’s heartening to see. So much so that we can finally remove the shackles of the mindset that the Eighties alone are the only point of reference for this sound. Not that anything is wrong with the Eighties, mind you but I digress…

The Chicago duo of Vincent and Hannah, better known as Wingtips are one such band crafting such lovely tunes that run the gamut from menacing to whimsical and with ease and grace. I dare say that in this respect they remind of a certain legendary band who also amazed with this ability to toe the line between dark and light in The Cure. Interestingly enough, I can hear a bit of Robert Smith in Vincent’s voice and that is never a bad thing.

To our collective joy, the band has announced the forthcoming release of their second record entitled Cutting Room Floor to be released on the 3rd of September on Artoffact Records. This highly anticipated announcement comes with the premiere of the first single Cross The Line and what an absolute delight this track is! Pure pop just begging to be featured during a high school prom scene in a television show or a film.

Cross The Line sounds so effortless and resonates so profoundly to the ear that it merits repeat listening just to commit the chorus to memory so you can hum it for the rest of the day. If this taster is what we can expect to hear going forward, Cutting Room Floor will truly be one of the year’s best.
