So far the year 2021 AD has managed to shine a collective light on us in that some stellar releases have made their way to our consciousness. The latest of which can be found in Making The World Great Again, the debut long-player from Norwegian-Danish duo Piston Damp. The band made up of singer Jonas Groth and Truls Sonsterud have been making waves in the European synth scene with some absolutely fantastic singles in Runaway, Loose Ends and the sublime Something In Me. The combination of their natural ear for melody and highlighted by Groth’s strong vocal range showed ample promise and left many of us waiting, wanting more. Luckily, the debut record delivered in spades.

Many who are up to date likely stopped early on and remarked that Jonas’ voice sounded quite familiar. As it turns out, Jonas is the brother of one Stephan Groth…aka the man behind the legendary EBM/electro-rock act Apoptygma Berzerk so it’s plain to see that talent runs in the family. More importantly, Jonas takes that talent and expands upon it with choruses galore that one can’t but help but hum long after a play or ten. Needless to say, this record is one I highly recommend and it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to find this grand piece of work in many end of year lists.

It’s available now via Subculture Records.
