Billy Suede

Unraveled by Zanias

Oftentimes it’s the little things that find a way to draw you in. It could be beat, a bit of a melody but more often than not for me, it’s the voice. The voice is the guide that carries you through the brief experience that is the song itself. The new single by Alison Lewis aka Zanias hits the sweet spot quite nicely as Lewis’ intoxicating vocal take center stage in what is sure to be considered amongst her finest work. Taken from the forthcoming long player Unearthed, Unraveled’s subdued tapestry of sound invites and cajoles and offers a stark contrast to the icy hymns of alienation we would hear in her other band Linea Aspera.

The new album Unearthed is out 6 September 2021 via Fleisch Records.

Now that we seem to moving forward from this real world Blip we as a society faced over the course of the last fifteen or so months, it’s nice to be able to dive headfirst into some new tunes. One particular record that stood out to me in the synth genre is the debut record by Sweden’s Cold Connection entitled Seconds In Solitude.

If late 80s Depeche Mode crossed with seminal Swedish band Elegant Machinery are in your bag, this is a band you would be remiss allowing to escape your gaze. Nine tracks of pure pop songcraft that buzzes the ear and moves the feet. The record is available now through ScentAir Records.
